Frosted Windowpanes

While the 'woof woof' was out taking care of business, we played with the frost that grew on the screen door.  What fun!

Piano Man

We're getting serious about the piano playing around here these days.  We sit at the piano now, and make sure to turn the pages so that we can play lots of different songs.

Happy Birthday Jesus!

The kids decorated cupcakes with sprinkles, M&Ms and gummi bears for Jesus' birthday tonight.

Then we sang Happy Birthday and had dessert.

Then our boy abruptly pulled a cushion off the kitchen chair, set it on the floor between us and tried to go to sleep.

"Do you have a headache? .... No? .... Well do you want one?"

Scenes At the Dinner Table

Dinner is getting more and more interesting around here.  Here are few of the more recent dinner scenes

Casey and Megan:  "In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.  Amen."
Asher:  "YEAH!"  (always followed by some sort of celebratory arm waving)

Megan: "Asher, what is this...cheese?"  (showing him a block of swiss cheese Casey had)
Asher:  (Pokes at it dubiously.)
Megan: "Should we smell it?"  (We take turns pretending to smell the block of cheese...silly us)
Casey:  "And now Daddy cuts the cheese!" (followed by Casey slicing cheese)

Megan:  (giggling) "Daddy cut the cheese and we smelled it!"

Asher: (Starts scraping his tongue to get something he doesn't like off it.)
Megan: "Yuck!"
Casey: "Yuck!" (followed by sticking out his own tongue and making outrageous puking noises while almost falling out of his chair)
Asher: (Sticks out his tongue making outrageous puking noises)
Asher and Casey:  (Look at each other and start making outrageous puking noises while sticking tongues out)

Wagon ride

Went for a ride in the wagon today.  We saw ducks, played at the playground AND picked up Daddy from the bus stop.

Staring at the Snow

Happy Halloween!

We had an awesome Halloween this year.  

1. He didn't sleep through it like last year.
2. He was an E-Wok!
3. We went to four Halloween events and had a blast at them all.
4. Best part was watching him toddle up to the houses,  at one point I caught him giggling while walking down the street.

We love our music playing around here! So much so that I think we should've dressed him up as Schroeder from Charlie Brown for Halloween instead.  What do you think?

Asher and Henry

Asher is starting to take a big interest in his roommate Henry:  

1. When in the back yard he will "woof" and bring any stick, ball, frisbee to Henry.  Even if Henry will knock him over with excitement.
   
   
2. He feeds Henry and arranges the food in or out of his dish so it's just right.
   
   
3. He will look for Henry ("woof woof") when we get home and is sometimes frustrated or sad when he can't find him.

Pumpkin Decorating

Friday we glittered our pumpkins up for Halloween!  Thanks for coming over Leah and Evan!

We explored the pumpkin patch this morning before music class and got a little sun before the weather turns bad.

Last year around this time our cousin was romping around in this outfit.  It seems to bring out the silly in all!

Thought it was time to show you all the animal noises I know.  My favorite books are ones with animals right now.

Library Fun

Our library across the street was just refurbished and is now one of my new favorite places to take our boy.  It has a grocery store, garden, city bus and mail room!  We played at the library for almost an hour!

The Selfie Look

You know how Zoolander has a trademark look?  Our boy now has one when he takes selfies.  (AKA he can see himself on the camera screen while picture is taken)

Throwing things is starting to become very fun at our house.  Good thing we have light weight plastic balls that can't break anything.

Asher's new favorite activity is to give mom raspberries.

We stack cups for hours around here and it never loses this level of excitement.

We got a new car last night...another compact with no trunk space.  On the flip side it's so environmentally friendly we should get an award.

Walking!

Labor Day Fun

 

Despite some colds running through our house, we still had lots of fun this labor day weekend.  Some fun (and some not so fun) memories include:

• Making mud pies in the water table.
• Helping Daddy drive the lawn mower all around the alleyway.
• Riding an elephant!
• Playing in a band
• Eating some good junk food at the Renaissance Festival
• Getting stung by a bee
• Eating dirt...once on purpose and once not so on purpose (falling over)

We'll let you decide which of these were fun or not fun :)

Awesome Moves

We've been listening to a lot of bluegrass at our house lately.  He's apparently inherited his dance moves from his father.

Asher is 1! ... Almost

We celebrated Asher's first birthday (a day early) with his cousins and family today!  We had a lot of fun playing outside, eating good food and in general celebrating our special little boy. 

Friday Fun-day

Had a fun day yesterday!  We spent the morning playing with kitchen containers and then moved on to some finger painting outside on the patio-everyone was a bit messy after that! (Especially when he bear-crawled over to give me a hug!)

We had a nice nap and then went out to lunch and a little playground fun with Grandpa Guy.

After another recharge- we met up with our cousins, Unkie Matt and Auntie Angie for a picnic and time at the splash pool.  His cousins did a very good job making the water look like fun :) (he wasn't so sure about it to begin with).  

All and all a good day- and to top it all off HE SLEPT THROUGH THE NIGHT for the first time!!!

4th of July

We had a very fun 4th of July!  Met up with friends at the beach ( per tradition) and then kept the "party" going with some grill-out and time at the playground.  In bed for all before fireworks :)

Throwing Rocks

We'll have to teach him that lesson about not throwing rocks another day.  He was having too much fun today to comment.

Clean Up Crew

Usually Henry does the after dinner clean up.  When he's not available Asher gladly takes over.  Apparently the food is just as good after its sat on for an entire dinner in his chair.

Neighborhood Stroll

This is our new favorite activity.  A couple days ago he started to be more interested in his walker.  Yesterday I thought to try it outside for a small length and he walked to Daddy at the end of the sidewalk mowing the yard.  This morning he walked from one room to the next with his walker...so this afternoon we thought it would be fun to take the party outside.  He walked two houses down and back with a huge smile on his face pretty much the entire time (And on ours as well).

I Finally Like To Swing!

Everyday this week we've gone for an after dinner family walk, typically to the park.  Asher apparently likes to swing now :)  Amazing how one day they are terrified of something and the next they aren't!  Made for a fun night! 

Trail of Q-tip Destruction!

We're finding that everyday house items have the most entertainment value for all.   Yesterday morning he helped himself to the q-tips and today we played with my Nalgene bottle and some clothes pins.  He got so excited about the clothes-pins he hit himself in the face from all his flapping arm happiness.

Rain Rain Go Away

It was VERY rainy over the weekend and all of last week.  Luckily we had two birthday's to lighten the weekend up! (figuratively, not literally-I'm still low on my weekly vitamin D quota).

First we celebrated Grandma Laurie's birthday on Friday with some pulled pork, angel food cake and tissue paper (see upcoming blog post showcasing that entertainment).

Next up, we celebrated Auntie Angie's birthday on Saturday with some Patrick's deli, cupcakes and a trip to the playground.

Sunday we caught up around the house and went to the toy store to play with the trains. 

Good Morning Birdies

We were up a little after 5 Saturday morning.  Asher likes to sit outside, so I thought that would be a good activity to pass the time until the rest of the world woke up :)
