Meet Mr. Bright Eyed and Bushy Tailed this morning!

Poor Henry

Henry skinned his front paws over the weekend and the Vet wanted him to wear "The cone of shame" as they healed.

Our once frolicking dog is finding he cannot enjoy his favorite pastimes like he used to. Case in point, the dinner dishes.

Needless to say we're all looking forward to having the real Henry back in a couple days.

Paper or Plastic?

Actually both please. Asher was enjoying some paper towels wrapped in plastic this morning. He was enjoying it so much that we're tempted to return the Christmas present we got him.

Musings of a Newly 28 year-old Mom

What an evening filled with smiles, giggles and cuddling. (See pictures below)  Thanks to everyone for the well wishes, songs and messages today!  Especially thanks to Leah and Evan for surprising me this morning by singing me happy birthday!  That was the highlight of my morning :)

Thanks too to my awesome husband who made me a homemade pancake breakfast dinner (with wine!), washed the bottles (my neverending evening chore) and has offered to take BOTH shifts tonight!  (Sleep is such an invaluable gift these days.)  You are wonderful and I love you so very much.

Also, speaking of sleep, I got this card in the mail today and I thought I would share for those of you who are currently in the same boat.  I laughed quite a bit considering I was actually up at 5:30 this morning with a certain child, trying to get them to sleep just alittle bit longer.

Happy 3rd Birthday Henry!

Granted that he'll never know that we wrote him a blog post wishing him a happy birthday, but he's still an important member of this family. :)

Three years ago this last week Henry was born!  6 weeks later he met his new family and went home (see picture on the left).  Our lives, and carpet, were never the same- our carpet for the worse and our lives for the better.

Here We Go!

This week Asher started rolling onto his stomach!  And we're not talking just a couple times, now when he's on the floor that's about all he does.  Unfortunately he hasn't perfected the rolling onto his back so he often rolls over and then gets stuck- and then puts his cranky pants on. :)  Here is a video from the first afternoon we saw it...

I can't even express in this blog post how excited I was to see this!

 



It's The Little Things

That make parenting so rewarding. Such as when they seem to fall asleep a little bit easier if they can just hold on to your hand.

I'm 1/3rd year old!

That's right, I know my fractions!  I turned 1/3rd year old this last week.  It was a rough week for me with a cold, fever and ear infection but I like to see the silver lining in things.  I get to have this great tasting medicine every day AND I got out of my 4 month shots.  (Hopefully Mommy and Daddy forget about that :) )

Lately I've been:

• Grabbing everything in reach, then putting it in my mouth.  I haven't found anything too tasty yet.  I'm really still only interested in milk I think. 
• Giving lots of smiles, except to the camera-  I'm suspicious of all cameras
• Sitting on Mom's hip a lot and watching everything that goes on in the house.
• Sitting on Dad's shoulder a lot and watching everything that goes on in the house.
• Talking talking talking- I like the word goooooooo. (Especially if I can gurgle the "g" sound)  My favorite place to say goooooooo is on the changing table!  (Think of it as the baby's version of the work water cooler) 
• Rolling! I can roll onto my side and from my tummy to back!  Yup, that's right I've been working out.

I'm 26", 15 lb 8 oz and my Mom and Dad love every bit of me!

 

 

 

Drinking From A Glass

Asher was watching me drink from a glass today and thought he would try it out too.

The "Neglected" Dog Finally Gets Some Attention

The "Neglected" dog of course being Henry!  He and I went on a play date this morning to the hockey rink across the street while Asher and Dad went grocery shopping.  He was so excited about the game of fetch he may have gotten a little over zealous on some of his jumps :)

In other news at the Plante house.  Asher and Will had a play date today- which consisted of few minutes of play followed by naps all around!  Later this evening Asher helped Dad make fish tacos, he also practiced his spatula licking skills.

Henry loves to play fetch with Asher.  He always drops the ball right in his lap (a nice, soft, rubbery ball).

The Great Pumpkin Carving 2012

Tonight we had the annual SherPlante pumpkin carving in preparation for Halloween tomorrow.  Asher was in rare form as he oversaw the carving. 

  Little did he know that all of his experiences in the Bumbo were actually preparing him for tonight! 

 

(For the record this was the last shot we took, he actually didn't mind being stuffed in a pumpkin - I don't want ya'll thinking we're bad parents :) )

 

 

A Cow Says "Coo"

Well you do if the cow is Asher.  Today Asher went to his first Halloween party.  He dressed up as...a cow!  (I know that's a shocker after reading the title of this post).  We met up with some of my friends from the various new Mom's groups I attended while on leave at Davanni's.  Later in the day Asher got up close and personal with his first pumpkin.  We rounded out the day with a nice walk through the park!

Fall Fun

 

We had an awesome weekend here at the Plante house! 
We celebrated Weston's 3rd birthday with a decorate your own pancake breakfast. 
We spent an hour and half frolicking in the dog park (we didn't, but Henry sure did)
We played in our first leaf pile of the season.

We took some good naps :)

I toke this picture early one morning this past weekend. The sleeping position looks like it could be a tad uncomfortable but Asher didn't seem to mind...as long as he was snuggling with Dad.

That the last day of leave is the first day Asher wants to sleep in. We can't though because its time to go make friends at daycare! Here he is on the changing table trying to sneak in a few extra zzzzz's. :)

Baptism Day

Today Asher David was baptised.  Above are a few pictures of the baptism.  Starting from left to right is Asher with Father Harry, then with his Godparents (Matt and Katie), being baptised, Asher before we headed to church and finally with his yummy cake (Unfortunately he didn't get any but the rest of us though it was delicious).  Thanks to our family for a wonderful and special day!

Quarter End Report!

Hi There!
It's me Asher again, I know I've been incognito for a few weeks but I've been a busy boy!  I'm back though to report on the last part of the 3rd quarter here at the Plante house- bottom line, we're all doing well and forcasting for an even better return on my investment this coming quarter.  (I bet my financey Dad would be proud of that last sentence :) )

Some things to note:
- I found out that big furry black thing is called a "Henry".  I just call him "Ooooo"- he doesn't seem to mind.
- I got to hang out with alot of my family this past month.  (We got a couple of pictures above to prove it!)  I managed to spit up on pretty much all of them- yup, I'm that good. hehehe
- I'm developing a good ear for music, my favorites are: Wheels on the Bus, Ram Sam Sam, these awesome silly songs my Dad makes up and..."Wide Awake" by Katie Perry.  Mommy and I like to dance around the house to that song when I'm wide awake ;)
- I like to have deep philosophical conversations with Mommy and Daddy.  Though I can only say "oooo", "ahhh" and "goo" they seem to understand what I'm trying to say.
- I still like to cuddle with Daddy before bed and with Mommy before I wake up in the morning, I think they enjoy the quiet time too.
- Oh and I'm a big boy now...I sleep all by myself in my cradle all night.  I usually only wake up once, around 3:30 for a mid-night snack!

Okay, it's about 7:30 PM- time for me to go put my crabby pants on for the evening! (some things haven't changed yet)  Catch you all later!



  

First Trip to the Zoo!

This morning Asher and I met a friend from our new parent group, Kari and her son Hans, at Como Zoo.

Though Asher wasn't too interested in the animals, some were curious about him. (see below)

Spit Bubbles

Today we went to Great Grandma Gram's for lunch where Asher was able to work on his spit bubbling skills with Grandpa Dave!

Family Date Night

We hit up the Global Market last night for dinner at our favorite taco joint, the Sonora Grill!

3 pork, 2 steak, 1 chicken and 1 tongue taco later, we finished off the night with a little treat from The Salty Tart. Myself with a mouthwatering coconut macaroon and Casey a ( not as mouthwatering :) ) double chocolate chunk cookie.

It was a good night!

What a Day!

I, Asher, was up early this morning working on my 48 hour poopageddon. So the day started out so so. However the day turned around at 10:30 or so. :) I worked so hard that I slept from 10:30 to 1:30- right through playtime with Martha and Finn. I'm sorry I missed them. Now my afternoon has been spent catching up with my good friends Ele the elephant and Hopper the frog. (See below) All in all a good day!

Baby Yoga

This week we met Britta and Elsie for some baby yoga. I think I was more excited about it than Asher but by the end he was looking pretty zen (see first pic below). We had an awesome afternoon after all that activity!

Daily Outings

I try to have one outing a day while on leave. Asher and I like to:

- Meet up with other Moms at the New Parent Connection every Tuesday.

- Meet up with friends for lunch or a walk.

A week or so ago we met Britta and Elsie at the mall. As you can see, the kids were excited to see each other.

- Spend time with family.

We went to visit Aunt Angie and cousins Leah and Evan a week ago.
Leah was really good at tickling Asher's feet and reading to him. Evan was very fond of Asher's lovey and had a hard time giving it up. :)

A Pig Named...

Bob! Asher learned about a pig named Bob today.

Which Way to the Gym

Asher likes to start his day off at the gym. He does a little working out but mostly goes so he can look at himself in the mirror... And then fall asleep. It's hard work being a baby.

My Real Name

Hi it's me, Asher.  I'm finding that my Mom doesn't remember my name very well.  If I could talk, I would remind her but she seems to think my name one of the following:

- Sugar Pie
- Honey Buns
- Peanut
- Peanut Shell
- Pumpkin
- Pumpkin Pie
- Crabby Pants
- Glow Worm (when I have my nifty glow in the dark pacifier in- I love that thing!)
- Sweet Potato
- Sweetie Pie
- Asher Dasher (thanks Cousin Annie for that one! :( )
- Asher (THIS IS MY REAL NAME)

Personally I'm a little concerned that all of the names are food related.  (Especially when there is this black furry thing that likes to lick my face)  However, I didn't mind when she called me those names while singing this song (click here) to me yesterday.

I Made it 5 Weeks!

I'm 5 weeks this weekend and I've been working hard this month.  Here's the scoop:

First let's talk about the good stuff...
- I went to my first wedding and must say I looked quite dapper in the outfit Mom and Dad put on me (see picture collage below).  There was a struggle to get me to wear it but in the end they managed to win me over.
- I celebrated my cousin Annie's 5th birthday.  I don't know what My Little Ponies are yet but I'm sure she will teach me when I'm old enough.
- I'm getting quite strong, I can hold up my head really really well.  We started doing tummy time.  My favorite place to practice is while laying on Mom or Dad's chest.
- I'm  getting over my sleep craze and am awake alot more.  Beware though, I must keep moving!  (Daddy says I need something new to do every 4 minutes and 30 seconds)
-  I'm a rock star at taking a bottle and love the time with Dad.
-  There is a black furry thing that likes to come up and lick me on the face,  I'm actually not sure if I like this or not.
- Oh and I weigh in at 10 lbs 6 oz last I checked.

I'm learning that there are couple things I don't like to do.  Though the list is small sometimes these things feel like a big deal.
I'm still not a fan of...
- Taking a bath (see picture collage below)
- Farting
- Spitting up or burping
- Laying on my back
